Are Jobs Secure? Do They Want Them to Be?


With instances such as 9/11, the War in Iraq, threats of terrorism hanging above their heads, and corporate scandals taking over breaking news stories, does Generation Y want to work? The fact is, Generation Y expects a lot of from their employers, bosses, and most importantly of themselves. They don’t foresee staying in a company for long-term growth as generations in the past have, but value their time and learning experience with each employer.

In their eyes “Life is Short” so the balance between personal life and work is quite simple. Work hard during the time expected—play even harder on your own time. You’ll find many Gen Yers envision running their own company and working from home or independently, to increase their amount of personal time. Generation Y is by no means lazy, non-conforming, or anti-corporation. They simply value their personal time, freedom, worth, and most importantly—their time to live.
