Dogs Mark Their Territory on Social Networks

Move over MySpace, Friendster and Facebook someone has let the dogs out and they've run straight to the Internet. In a follow-up to the last post discussing the social networks catering to each segment of Generation Y, even diehard dog lovers are getting in on the action. In the March 29, Online SPIN Cory Treffiletti, SVP Engagement Architect at Carat Fusion, writes, "I guess in some cases dog lovers want to see other peoples' dogs, but something about the concept gives me the willies. It's like stalking someone else's pets." Dogster, the social network in reference, allows pet owners to post pictures of their canine pals for viewing by the online community. Visitors can "leave a bone" (comment), meet their pals, view their "doggie dynamics" which states their energy, intelligence, friendliness, playfulness and disposition, view their likes and dislikes and even adopt a dog to take home. Dogster even offers an "Ask Dr. Barchas" page giving dog owners a chance to ask medical advice and questions about abnormal behavior.
