MP3 User Demographic Profile

Can we pinpoint just how many GenYers are tuning in and taking their MP3 players and iPods everywhere they go? The Center For Media Research highlighted a survey from Simultaneous Media and BIGresearch detailing the statistics and demographic profile for the 50 million plus MP3 players sold last year. The study found 64.4% were male, 35.6% were female with an average education of 14.5 years. The report went on to note, "MP3 users are big technology users and more likely to subscribe to cable TV, have high speed internet access, satellite RV, access streaming video on their cell phones and use voice over internet telecoms services."
When developing strategies for marketing to Generation Y you should take into account their unique ability to multitask unlike previous generations. Their minds have been stimulated consistently since birth with every wave imaginable crossing their path from radio waves to microwaves, the Internet and video games. The report ended with the finding that rings true to their multitasking ability with 50% of MP3 owners claiming to surf the web, read and do other activities while listening to music.
