Teen Girls Take Control on Conde Nast’s Flip
Users aren’t just generating content anymore. Flip, Conde Nast’s social network for teen girls, is giving consumers control over site advertisements as well.
Advertising is uniquely integrated into the site, allowing users to select her own brands and ads. Consumers can opt for a particular brands’ banner ad for their profile pages. More uniquely, non-branded digital images used to decorate profiles and “Flip books” - digital scrapbooks and diaries - identify brands and logos when users click on them.
“This approach is all part of marketing to teens these days,” said Dee Salomon, senior VP of Sales and Marketing, CondeNet. “Advertisers are experimenting in speaking to girls in a way they want to be spoken to,” she said.
PacSun, Nordstrom, Clean & Clear and Vera Wang are among the premiere sponsors for Flip. Pre-launch ad revenue is rumored to be nearly $2 million.
